The Formation of TYC

In 1998 I met my wife Jan while visiting friends in England. At the time I was studying Engineering at the University of Centrale Lyon in France, and she was an Economics undergraduate at the University of Kent at Canterbury. After graduating, we married and set up home in England.
Following respective careers in Engineering and Sales and Marketing, we decided it was time to purse our dream of running our own company overseas.
Having spent most of my life sailing and competing in Regatas in Northern France, I had always wanted to work in the sailing industry - preferably somewhere warm. As Jan is a Tanzanian and we had traveled in Tanzania and Zanzibar many times the decision to move to the country an obvious and logical choice.
In 2004 we moved to Tanzania with our 7 year old son, purchased "Ocean Breaker" and set up Tanzania Yacht Charters ltd.
We've have been Chartering in these Waters ever since!
Area of Expertise
We specialise in Operating and Organising Sailing Holidays, Diving Holidays, Honeymoon Cruises, Corporate Sailing Holidays/Events and Big Game Fishing trips, in the Indian Ocean. Our principal cruise area is the East African Coast and Islands - also known as The Swahili Coast. The Swahili Coast stretches from Kenya, through to Tanzania and ends in Northern Mozambique.
Latest Developments
For those who are new to the site, TYC.com has recently undergone an extensive design and content upgrade. Due to popular demand we have been able to extend the choice of yachts and sailing options available in the Swahili Coast. Now there is truly something for everyone and at excellent rates.
Future Developments
We are in the course of extending our cruising waters to include the Islands of Madagascar, la Reunion, Mayotte and the Seychelles.

Onboard Crews Company Owned and Featured Yachts
All yachts are staffed by 2 to 8 man professional Crews, highly experienced in sailing these waters. Yacht Skippers come from the UK and France. They are supported by experienced, discrete and very friendly Tanzanian and Kenyan Crews.
Location
TYC sailing base is located on the Sea front of Bweleo Village in the Fumba Peninsular (South Zanzibar). It's a 30 minutes drive from Stone Town and Zanzibar Airport.
Our offices are located in Stone Town Zanzibar on Shangani street between the New Africa Hotel and the Serena Inn Hotel.
